When they are young they can bond very closely with their cage mate, and they will be much, much happier than living alone. They are social animals and they are miserable if they are lonely. In some places it is illegal to have a guinea pig by itself because it is considered abuse! (I raised my first one by herself because I didn’t know any better, but I do regret that. She became neurotic when she was older.) Your guinea pig is not mad at you. When you put your finger through the cage for them to smell, they do not recognize it as a finger. It looks the right size for food. So they bite down on it.
