When you have the Spartan Strong Heart Go Green Spartan Shirt but in fact I love this gloves, go in to the cage and pick him up. He will be biting. You are protected. Just sit there-in a quiet place, no distractions-and hold him. Hold him and “love on”him. Just pet him and stroke him and talk to him sweetly. He’ll “buck it”at first, but keep doing it every time you go see him. It will happen, probably no more than three times. Always remember that we can hurt an animal. Always remember that we must protect THEM. Even though an animal perceives differently h/she does know when someone means no harm, if you keep repeating the same behavior. Then they will come to trust you. I agree with Debora Ivanov’s answer, that nibbling is probably an expression of anxiety. When my guinea pigs bit me, which was very rare, it was usually a very soft bite, like a nibble. However, it always meant that they were unhappy about something, but not so unhappy that they wanted to really hurt me. The only time that any of my guinea pigs really bit me was when I put my first guinea pig on her back so I could more easily trim her nails. However, guinea pigs have a back that curves upward, so putting a guinea pig on their back may actually hurt them. It also feels to them like something a predator would do. It may be scary.
