You may also feel out of place if you wore a more casual fabric bow tie to a “black tie event.” My advice is to try it at least once. To truly appreciate the bow tie you must wear a real bow tie as in one that you tie not simply clip on. Although it takes time and practice to master this craft the end result and the overwhelming feeling of expressive joy is well worth the effort. The first time you wear one you’ll notice the attention. The second time you’ll seek the attention. The third time you’ll expect it. Soon thereafter you’ll get past that as one should and embrace what becomes a part of you, a confidence piece, not a vein mentality but one of comfort with who you are and the ability to show the world. Then when you see others in bow ties you’ll just look and nod, like, “you know.”
