While I was there, I experienced coups, typhoons, civil uprisings, criminal activities, balut, the Nippa Hut, earthquakes, motorcycle accident that resulted in a broken neck, shocked by 16000 volts and finally – the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. While we (my new wife and 4 mos. old son) were evacuating, a typhoon hit while we were on a US naval vessel. It was a heck of a time for a young man. Later, after being evacuated back to the States, I started having dreams (nightmares are dreams too) that the ship was going down and I was cast into the tumult. I was drowning in the storm tossed sea and trying to hold my breath as long as I could in both my dream as well as in reality…
