Notwithstanding the FDU Men’s Basketball NCAA March Madness Sweet Sixteen 2023 Shirt in other words I will buy this sketchy nature of what is essentially a “bump cap” they DID work – I fell and hit my head on stuff and it wouldn’t have helped for a potential concussion or neck injury, it definitely prevents scalp wounds and that kind of thing. There was a horrible time (late 80s?) when helmets with some amount of impact absorption became required (contemporaneous with the kids shall wear bike helmets era). Large, heavy, but with moderately well designed harnesses to keep them on the head. However, there were “fit” issues -kids are growing, helmets are expensive, etc. And people griped about cost – particularly in folks just starting out – riding a school horse, wearing inexpensive breeches, boots and coat handed down from some other rider who outgrew it. Most barns had a room full of boots, coats, saddles, etc.. It was sort of a sign of “graduating to the big (or middle) time” that you (or your kid) went out and bought your first new coat and boots. And before the “mandatory helmet” time, there were plenty of (kind of scummy, but wearable) loaner helmets.

SOUNDS LIKE FUN!!!!!’
