To sell now days on Amazon you need to be very competitive – you need to beat your competition so you need to sell cheaper – and that means very low margins. But then you have to pay shipping to both your Vendor and your Buyer… whether you ship it yourself or let Amazon do it… then you pay Amazon fees, which are VERY high… etc… you end up making maybe a $1 profit after ALL your expenses… and I include here Marketing expenses & returns cost for defective items you sell… because you WILL have those. So you are basically making 10% profit AT BEST… which means, that $100,000 a month in sales – is barely $10,000 profit… in most cases , it’s actually less. Thus I have left that biz model… but it taught me a lot about online sales – choosing right products – dealing with Chinese vendors – shipping issue – customer service – Social media – marketing etc.
